Born in France at La Guerche de Bretagne on 26 Jaunary 1961, he resides and works in Cremona since 1978, from when he began his career as a self-taught luthier. In 1988 he won the first prize at the "Homage to Stradivari" Competition organized, in one single edition only, by Cremona to mark the 250th anniversary of the passing of the great violin maker. Judges were Salvatore Accardo and Francesco Bissolotti.The instrument was subsequently donated to Massimo Quarta, the best student of the Stauffer Foundation's Master Classes.

In 1999 Loeiz Honoré was finalist in the cello section (instrument to which he has dedicated particular attention) at the Paris Competition, and in 2000 at the Triennale di Cremona Competition. His instruments, built exclusively following the classic Cremona method, are played in the most prestigious orchestras and chamber groups e in Italy, France, Germany, U.S.A., South Corea and Japan.

Loeiz Honoré also makes reproductions of original antique Italian instruments. He taught for several years at the International Violin Making School of Cremona, is an active member of the French violin makers' association ALADFI, and was a founding member of the Consortium of Cremona Violin and Bow makers.
